The Othersiders Season 1 Episode 1 S01E01 Premiere Pilot with Lincoln Heights Jail airs on June 17 2009 Wednesday 8:00 PM on Cartoon Network with synopsis, The Othersiders band together and investigate the mysterious events surrounding the Lincoln Heights Jail.

The Othersiders turns out to be a teenage clone of Sci-fi’s long-running paranormal reality series Ghost Hunters. As a paranormal enthusiast, I was an avid viewer of the first several seasons of Sci-fi’s show, which centered on a The Atlantic Paranormal Society, and as such The Othersiders engendered both interest and, I found, a strong sense of deja vu.

The Othersiders is clearly heavily based on the Ghost Hunters set-up in almost every single way. It’s slightly higher tech, with some flashy computer graphics to make it look cool, but for the most part the gadgets, the investigation techniques, the terminology (and how it flashes up on the screen), and the individual interview bits all seem identical to what the TAPS team has been doing for years.

But the show eventually diverged ever so slightly when The Othersiders season 1 episode1 proved itself to be a much less “truthy” show than its predecessor. Both shows claim to be looking for the truth, but whereas Ghost Hunters seems to try to avoid a “haunted” verdict for a locale if at all possible, The Othersiders season 1 episode 1 looks for any excuse to call a place haunted. More than that, the events of their pilot investigation, that of the Lincoln Heights Jail, included examples of just about every kind of reported activity for the site – something that never, ever happens in Ghost Hunters. I began to feel strongly that at least a few things were staged or embellished for television.
