According to reports, Sahel believed McNair was going to divorce his wife, Mechelle McNair (Michelle McNair). However, Michelle says she knew nothing about the divorce or of Sahel. Sahel’s nephew, Abdi, said.

“I was under the impression that his family knew about her. That he took the children alone with him on vacation is a sign that they were separated.”

“That’s why she was like, ‘OK, now you’re divorcing. We can date,’ ” Salmani, Sahel’s sister, said. “He told her, it was going to be finished, the whole divorce was going to be done, two weeks from yesterday.”

Sahel’s family says she was a sweet girl and was in love with McNair. Divorce papers had not been filed in Nashville, but Steve and Mechelle’s family home was for sale and he had recently spent time alone with his children.
