Sarah Slocum has been crowned Miss Arkansas 2009.

The 23-year-old Sarah Slocum entered the pageant as Miss Ouachita River. In winning the title of Miss Arkansas 2009 on Saturday, Sarah Slocum also won a $20,000 scholarship provided by Ted and Shannon Boy Skokos and more than $50,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation and gifts.
Sarah Slocum a.k.a Miss Arkansas 2009 will represent Arkansas at the 2010 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.

Sarah Slocum received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas and is a second-year law student at the school. Sarah Slocum graduated from Sheridan High School in 2004.
For her talent presentation at the pageant, Slocum sang “The Prayer.” Her platform issue is “Paving the Way: Encouraging Higher Education.”
