Paris Hilton goes on trial for ‘failing to promote film’

Paris Hilton is going on trial in Florida accused of failing to promote her 2006 box office flop.

The heiress was hit with a federal lawsuit amid claims she didn’t honour her contract to promote the DVD release of sorority flick Pledge This.

The lawsuit – filed on behalf of some film investors – is seeking more than $8m in damages from Hilton, 28, and her entertainment company.

The movie grossed only $2.9m worldwide, although Hilton claims she did everything she could to plug it, including mentioning it to press at parties and premieres.

The lawsuit has been filed by a court-appointed receiver for a defunct Miami entertainment company that invested in the movie.
