Katherine Heigl Covers Marie Claire

Katherine Heigl is featured on the August 2009 cover of UK Marie Claire. The 30-year-old Grey’s Anatomy star told the mag her thoughts on filming sex scenes, looks and her upcoming movie, The Ugly Truth.

On her husband Josh Kelley hating watching her sexy scenes: “It’s not his favourite part of the profession but I told him, ‘It’s my job, and if I feel uncomfortable doing my job, and it suffers because of it, I’ll kill you.”

On moving in with Josh: “Josh and I didn’t live together before we were married because I wanted to hang on to those last days of my single-girl pad as long as I could. I’m not going to lie – it was rough when we finally moved in together. It’s the simple stuff everyone talks about. I like things neat, he leaves things everywhere.”

On doing romantic comedies: “I know I’m catching some crap for it, but I really like doing them. People keep asking me if I want to do anything more serious, or Oscar-worthy, and I do, but I’m not quite there yet. I did a lot of heavy stuff in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. My mother went through breast cancer 12 years ago, and it brought a lot of that back. I don’t want to do that 24/7.”

On feminisam: “I’m not out burning bras, but I’m very opinionated about women owning their power. I look back at my twenties and see that I was much less confident. You repress how you really feel because society tells us what women think isn’t valid, that we’re frivolous and shallow.”

On being the fifth highest-paid actress in Hollywood: “That’s awesome. I didn’t know that. I have a tendency to go, ‘Oh my God, there’s nowhere for this to go but down’, but I should take a minute to appreciate that. If it all goes away tomorrow? I’ll be OK, too.”

On looks: “I always assume I look better than I actually do. I’ll feel pretty good about myself when I leave the house, then I’ll see a picture and think, ‘Crap, I had no idea that’s what I was looking like.’”
