Jennifer Love Hewitt’s flesh-baring roles have won her a legion of male fans. The ‘Ghost Whisperer’ actress has noticed her popularity has risen since appearing on the US TV show – in which she plays Melinda Gordon, who can converse with spirits – and is under no illusions as to the reason for her sudden fame.

She explained: “I have met a lot of men who love Melinda because she wears a lot of nighties and runs around in the dark!” The 30-year-old actress is pleased to note the programme has also won her some female followers, who are attracted to her character for more wholesome reasons.

She explained to gossip website Absolute Now: “Women seem to be drawn to my character because her marriage is kind of perfect and great and that’s what a lot of women dream of.”
