Cheyenne Cherry, 17, was confronted after her guilty plea in Bronx Supreme Court to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary in the May 6 killing at her former roommate’s apartment.
Tiger Lily was left to die inside the blistering oven after Cheyenne Cherry and a 14-year-old friend trashed the apartment of Valerie Hernandez, destroying furniture before stealing DVDs and food.
A heartless kitty killer hissed angrily at animal rights activists Wednesday, grinning widely as she took credit for stuffing the helpless pet into a 500-degree oven.
Cheyenne Cherry, who was charged with animal cruelty and attempted burglary, will be put behind bars for a year and promised not to keep a pet for the next three years. The other girl, who Cheyenne Cherry claims was the one to put the cat in the oven, will face trial in Family Court because of her age.
Cheyenne Cherry said little Tiger Lily was killed during “a practical joke” – the same excuse she gave for shoving a gun in the robbery victim’s face last year, cops said.

“It was just a joke,” Cheyenne Cherry said after her arrest for robbing a man of his iPod at gunpoint. Cheyenne Cherry pleaded guilty to robbery and got five years probation.
Cheyenne Cherry also had a 2007 arrest for smacking a girl in the head with jewelry, police said.
Cheyenne Cherry, now charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, arson, burglary and criminal mischief, is a dog owner who loves pets, her brother insisted.

“My sister is no cat killer,” said David Cherry. “Cheyenne Cherry is not an animal hater. Cheyenne Cherry has a little Yorkie that she loves.”
In a cruel twist to the case, a Brooklyn retiree who shares a last name with Cheyenne Cherry is getting threats after someone mistakenly listed her number on a Web posting about the cat slaying.
“They’re all saying, ‘You’ll burn in h*ll,’ ‘Who the hell do you think you are?’” Bernadette Cherry, 72, said of the 75 calls from cat lovers.
