There are a growing number of instances throughout the country where violence occurs in the workplace.
Police said that what happened to Yale graduate student Annie Le was workplace violence.
The 24-year-old’s body was discovered Sunday in the building where Annie Le was last seen and was strangled. Her co-worker Raymond Clark, a university lab technician, was arrested Thursday for the crime.
Quinnipiac psychology professor Carrie Bulger said, “There are about 17 homicides per week in the United States at work and only 8 percent of them are worker on worker, we called it workplace violence”
Bulger also said that workplace homicides are not common, but they do happen.

In July, Eridiania Rodriquez, a cleaning lady at the World Trade Center, disappeared in the middle of her shift. Her body was discovered four days later stuffed in an air conditioning vent and her co-worker Joseph Pabon was arrested and charged in her murder.
Bulger said that workplace homicides or instances of violence are more likely to happen in industries like retail but said that stress in any work environment can play a major factor.
